Division I schools are the major collegiate athletic powers, they generally have larger budgets, more elaborate facilities, and higher numbers of athletic scholarships to offer.

NCAA Division II
Division II schools tend to be smaller public universities and many private institutions. Athletic scholarships are offered in most sponsored sports at most institutions.

NCAA Division III
Division III schools do not offer athletic scholarships, they will however help you find funding from other sources if they really want you to play for their school.

The division consists of colleges and Universities that the NCAA does not sanction athletic scholarships. Today there are 449 Colleges and Universities in NCAA DIII. NCAA Division III is the largest of the three NCAA divisions.

Contrary to popular belief, not all DIII schools are small. DIII schools range in size from less than 500 to over 10,000 students.
